Editing Resumes

Resume toolbar for the job hunt

                                                                                        Edit Resume

Absolutely one of the most powerful facets of JobTabs is its ability to manage many resumes.  Not only does JobTabs manage many resumes it also manages many versions of each of the many resumes as well.  For example, if you send your resume to an employer and then later you decide you want to make some changes to that resume JobTabs will automatically make a copy of that resume in the back ground.  You won't even notice it.  Let's say you make a lot of changes to that resume and then receive a phone call from the employer requesting an interview.  Even if you have changed that resume ten times and over six months ago, JobTabs will still show you the original resume you sent that employer!

JobTabs is seamlessly integrated with OLE compliant word processors.  This includes MS Word and even WordPad.  So if you would rather use MS Word as your default word processor you are free to do so and JobTabs will manage your resumes with the same exacting detail it manages with its own word processor.  You are free to copy and change your resume using MS Word and JobTabs will manage the process behind the scenes.  If you do not have an OLE compliant word processor, JobTabs will still be able to monitor each version of each resume using its own word processor.

Editing Resumes  Resume in edit mode during the job hunt

When you are editing a resume the text on the treeview will have a bold, blue font.  The 'IT Director Resume' to the right illustrates a resume in edit mode.

While you are editing a resume in MS Word for example, if you edit the document and then save it you can actually see the resume being saved into JobTabs in real time by looking at the JobTabs status bar.  And this is while the resume is still open in MS Word!  The best way to observe this is to put the two applications side by side and watch the interactivity.

Be sure to actually edit something prior to saving your resume, because MS Word will not save your resume if it hasn't changed since you last saved it.

This is a measure of the governance that JobTabs accords all resumes being edited.  Upon closing the resume in MS Word, the icon of the resume in edit mode will automatically revert to a normal icon.  Knowing what your resume says about you is very important and something that is not taken lightly in JobTabs.
